The Gloworms are a London-based trio playing traditional English music for dancing. They combine banjo (Colin), fiddle (Laurel) and accordion (Jon) into a bright, modern sound firmly rooted in tradition.
Their repertoire consists of primarily English tunes and their own compositions, with others from around the world thrown in. The band perform these tunes in a layered texture of driving rhythms and counter-melodies that draw out the inherent rhythm of English material.
Concert spots allow the Gloworms to explore some more subtle intricacies of their arrangements, as well as seeing songs, clog dances and even spoons being unleashed on the unsuspecting audiences.
The Gloworms are playing at this year’s CeilidhAid (organised by fRoots to raise funds for the tsunami appeal) at The Forum, 9-17 Highgate Rd, Kentish Town, London NW5 - Saturday 23rd April 2005 , 7pm-1am.
