Outside Capering Crew

The Outside Capering Crew

The Outside Capering Crew presents English Morris dancing with contemporary verve: sometimes flashy, sometimes comic, and always with exhilarating music.

The Outside Capering Crew first performed in public at Sidmouth International Festival in 1996, when the team had just one dance in their repertoire.  Since then they have gone from strength to strength and now their repertoire includes broom dances, breakneck "bacca pipes" jigs, audience-participation, and face-slapping.

The Crew now have two half-hour street shows which have premiered in 2005. The shows are constantly evolving, but always link back to the roots of traditional Cotswold Morris.  The Outside Capering Crew is a highly inventive team, pushing at the boundaries of the tradition but still a part of that tradition.  Morris dancing has evolved through the centuries, and their vigorous, enthusiastic style of performance, partly inspired by modern street entertainers, carries that tradition forward.
